Early Skate 4 Gameplay Leaks Online as Full Circle Concentrates on Fluid Movement

Early pre-alpha footage from Skate 4 has managed to find its way online. Those expecting a highly polished game with jaw-dropping graphics will be disappointed, as is only to be expected from early pre-alpha footage, but it does show developer Full Circle concentrating on making sure the fluidity of movement is as good as it can be.

The first Skate 4 gameplay footage

The footage, which was posted on Odysee by Rad Dad but has since been taken down by EA, shows a skater making his way through a basic city on a map called Fun City, according to Tom Henderson. The camera angle is extremely similar to that used in Skate 3. The skater is performing flips, grinds, and spins as he makes his way down the road in a brief showcase of onboard movement. Later on, the skater is found in a skatepark area where the footage concentrates on the skater’s moveset while on foot, including climbing and a variety of body flips.

Throughout the brief video, the control scheme can also be seen in the bottom corner, confirming the stick system for controlling tricks will make its return. The footage was saved by Jeff Grubb and can be seen below:

In his latest Grubbsnax podcast (transcribed by VGC), Grubb also revealed more details about the game, including extensive customization options for characters and boards, including content created by other players. He also described the “collaborative online free skate mode that does sound very good” that will let players skate freely and build skate parks together:

This is a mode where you are hanging out with your friends or anyone else who is going to hop onto the server, and then anyone on the server can say, ‘hey, does anyone want to try and lay down some tricks with me over here on this thing?’ And then someone can lay down the skate park stuff required to do that in real-time with everyone else right there and just say, ‘here’s the ramp we need to make this happen, there it is, now everyone starts doing this.’ And people can work together to make these parks all at the same time. You can add stuff, delete stuff on the fly, and the people that have played this mode said this was kind of the standout where it was just really fun to do that with friends and with other people.

As usual, take the above details with a pinch of salt until EA officially reveals the game. EA has so far refused to comment.

In other news, Insomniac is building a “world-class” team for an unannounced multiplayer game. Elsewhere, TERA will be closing its servers later this year, rendering the game unplayable.
