Final Fantasy 16 Release on Track for 2023 as It Enters Final Stretch

A Final Fantasy 16 release date set in 2023 seems to be a lock as Square Enix has confirmed that the game has entered its final stretch of development. For those who missed it, the publisher randomly dropped a four-minute trailer yesterday, in which in offered an in-depth look at Final Fantasy 16’s characters and its world called Valisthea. This was accompanied by a lengthy PS Blog post, in which director Hiroshi Takai revealed that the PS5 exclusive is on track for 2023.

Final Fantasy 16 release date expected to be set in mid 2023

Square Enix has been coy about when exactly it plans to release Final Fantasy 16 but has provided a general release window of summer 2023. Sony does tend to have a blockbuster or two lined up around the first and second quarters of a year so considering this and the fact that Final Fantasy 16 is undergoing debugging and final adjustments, we don’t foresee a delay from the aforementioned window.

“As the game edges closer to completion, the team has turned its full attention to debugging and final adjustments,” Takai wrote. “Now that things are starting to come together, the game is sizing up to be something truly special.”
