Further Cyberpunk 2077 Updates, Improvements, and DLC Delayed Until 2022 After Roadmap Quietly Updated

CD Projekt Red has stealthily updated the content roadmap for Cyberpunk 2077, the result being that all future updates, improvements, and free DLC have been delayed until next year. First noticed by Twitter user Tyler McVicker, the roadmap was altered on October 28 to insinuate there will not be any more updates for Cyberpunk 2077 this year. Presumably, the planned major expansions are also still in development, although they are conspicuously missing from the roadmap.

According to the new roadmap, the last patch to be released this year will have been September’s Patch 1.31 that fixed several bugs that prevented progress in many of the game’s missions as well as optimising GPU memory on PlayStation 4. The first and only free DLC to be released in 2021 arrived in August alongside Patch 1.30, giving players a Johnny Silverhand alternative appearance, two jackets for V, and the Archer Quartz “Bandit” vehicle. The game’s free DLC program, originally due to begin earlier this year, will supposedly include a “bunch of cool stuff that’ll inject even more life into the world of the dark future.” Now, future updates and free DLC are targeting the first quarter of 2022.

There wasn’t any reason for the delay although it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise bearing in mind the developer also delayed the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt until next year too. This was to give both games more time “based on recommendations supplied by persons supervising development.” The new-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 is now due to be released during Q1 2022, so between January and March.

Cyberpunk 2077 may well have reached a “satisfactory” level of performance and stability, at least according to the developer, but this doesn’t mean there won’t be more improvements in the future. We could possibly see the next Cyberpunk 2077 update arrive at the same time as the native PS5 version but we’ll be sure to let you know when we hear anything new. For now, don’t hold your breath for anything more in 2021.
