A rumor of a possible God of War: Ragnarok delay to 2023 has been heard by series creator David Jaffe. He claims to have found out from a “Sony insider pal” that the game’s release date remaining in 2022 is “50/50 at this point.”
The God of War: Ragnarok release date continues to be a hot topic
Member thst Sony insider pal who said GOW:R 2022 was still on? Well ANOTHER Sony insider pal texted me today saying it’s no longer locked in and the release is tbd. Maybe 2022; maybe not.
So fuck if I know: 50/50 at this point.
Man, when they gonna announce that date?!

According to Jaffe’s tweet posted above, it would seem that various Sony insiders are conflicted as to Ragnarok’s release date. The rumors are so divided that even the God of War creator is anxious to receive an official announcement for the date.
It was only several days ago that the delay rumors for God of War: Ragnarok seemed to be debunked, with Jason Schreier reporting that sources from Sony believe that the game is still on track for a late 2022 release. The change of the placeholder release date to December 31, 2022 had many expecting the game to arrive before the holiday season, perhaps in November, though Schreier stipulated that “this is not a guarantee that the game will come out in 2022.”
There is speculation that there may be a State of Play scheduled later this month. One Bloomberg report said that Santa Monica Studio would have a God of War “announcement later this month,” while insider Tom Henderson said that this coincides with “some other important announcements from Sony during the last week of the month.” This could mean that the company might be planning a presentation compiling all of this apparently new information together, or perhaps creating a full 20-minute State of Play specific to Ragnarok, just as it did with Hogwarts Legacy in March.
In other news, PlayStation Now has lost more than 200 games in its catalog due to merger with the new PS Plus service that launched today in North America, and here is a list of the multiplatform announcements from the Xbox Bethesda Showcase over the weekend.
