It’s no surprise that the God of War Ragnarok release date reveal has generated incredible numbers on social media given the hype from multiple reports. On Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, the “Father & Son” trailer and other related posts have received thousands, if not millions, of views.

At the time of this writing, the 30-second cinematic trailer for God of War Ragnarok on YouTube has reached over 3.1 million views and is “#2 on trending.” The like-to-dislike ratio is also noteworthy, with the video getting 175 thousand likes to only 2 thousand dislikes. On top of that, the unboxing video on YouTube for the Collector’s and Jotnar Editions featuring Art Director Rafael Grassetti and Ryan Hurst, the motion capture and voice actor for Thor in the game, has garnered more than 1.4 million views and is “#13 on trending.”

On Twitter, the tweet with the release date reveal on the official PlayStation account has received more than 157 thousand likes, while a three-second GIF loop of the trailer on Santa Monica Studio’s tweet has gotten more than 88 thousand likes. According to user @Benji-Sales who focuses on social metrics and data in the video game industry, that’s the highest number of likes for a tweet on the developer’s account ever. Last but not least, the announcement on PlayStation’s Instagram has reached over 1 million likes.

These figures reconfirm God of War Ragnarok as the most-anticipated PlayStation-exclusive game releasing this year, amplified by numerous reports and speculative projections of the game’s delay. In fact, the hype reached such a boiling point that Creative Director Cory Barlog called for “human decency and respect” due to the negative fan reaction at the delayed release date announcement. While the new trailer did not show off any gameplay, it is now expected to be revealed in an August State of Play. But really, let’s just appreciate that God of War Ragnarok hasn’t been delayed to 2023 like so many other triple-A games this year.

In other news, several EA studios are reportedly unhappy with the company’s controversial tweet slamming single-player games, and the PS Store has oddly revoked access to some movies players have purchased.
