GorillaPod creators introduce new flexible PodZilla tripod

0

JOBY, creator of the GorillaPod, has announced an all-new range of tripod products called ‘PodZilla.’ The PodZilla line of tripods are ‘versatile, modular and flexible’ tripods designed for new and aspiring content creators.

PodZilla comes in two sizes, medium and large, and both sizes promise ease of use. The PodZilla uses a lightweight aluminum core covered in a grippy rubber outer layer. Each leg is fully articulated, allowing users to achieve a level, stable platform on uneven terrain.

The medium PodZilla has a standard ¼/20″ tripod mount and can support devices weighing up to 1kg (2.2 lbs). It includes a phone clamp with a double cold shoe attachment. The tripod has a push-button adjustable ball-head. In total, the PodZilla (medium) weighs 0.35kg and its dimensions are 4.8 x 5.4 x 25cm (1.89 x 2.13 x 9.84″).

Medium PodZilla

The PodZilla Flexible Tripod Medium Kit comes in red, teal, yellow and gray options and costs $39.95 USD.

At 5.5 x 7.3 x 31.5cm (2.17 x 2.87 x 12.4″), the large PodZilla can support more weight than its smaller sibling. The payload capacity for the large PodZilla is 2.5kg (5.5 lbs). Unlike the smaller PodZilla, which is designed more for compact mirrorless cameras and smartphones, the larger PodZilla can support heavier equipment. For example, the PodZilla (large) can comfortably support a Sony A7-series camera and FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM lens.

The large PodZilla only comes in gray. In addition to being slightly larger than the medium size, the large PodZilla can support more weight.

The PodZilla (large) comes with a compact quick release plate and, like the smaller PodZilla, uses a standard tripod mount. It uses an adjustable ball head and can easily be tilted into portrait mode. The larger PodZilla also includes a built-in bubble level.

The larger PodZilla also includes a built-in level.

The PodZilla (large) is $39.95 in gray and can be purchased in a kit with a phone clamp for $49.95.
