Gran Turismo 7 Delay Rumors Start After Media Event Canceled at Last Minute

Fans are fearing Gran Turismo 7 may be delayed after word got out a media preview event was postponed at the last minute with no reason given. This has happened before when a media event was canceled shortly before the game in question was delayed by a couple of months. Sony’s current radio silence over the cancelation has sparked rumors this could happen again.

When will Gran Turismo 7 be released?

Gran Turismo 7 is currently due to be released on PS5 and PS4 on March 4. The game has already been delayed. With development of Gran Turismo 6 nearing completion, Polyphony Digital originally estimated Gran Turismo 7 would follow in 2015; plans changed and Gran Turismo Sport was released in between the two games. Gran Turismo 7 was then given a 2020 release window before being pushed to the first half of 2021. The game was then delayed again to 2022 before getting its current release date.

The news was revealed via renowned leaker Tom Henderson, who claimed the media event was due to take place on January 25 and was delayed by Sony. The decision was made at the last minute and so far Sony hasn’t given any reason for the delay, but they have said they will give a new date for the event within the next 24 hours.

This has happened previously with other games like The Last of Us 2 where the game was subsequently delayed, so the assumption the game may not be released on March 4 is not too outlandish. However, there are also plenty of reasons for an event like this to be canceled and others have pointed to a rise in Covid cases in the developer’s native Japan as a potential reason for moving the event. Of course, we’ll be sure to let you know if anything changes.

In other news, Elden Ring has gone gold and developer FromSoftware has told fans how much time they expect it will take players to finish the game. Elsewhere, the Dark Souls PvP servers have been taken down after a security exploit was found.
