Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of developer Polyphony Digital and producer for the Gran Turismo series, has teased a new Gran Turismo 7 update with an image of three mysterious cars covered in shadow. Veteran Gran Turismo fans haven’t been stumped by the image and can already tell what the cars will be based solely on their silhouettes, but the weekly updates of free content show that Gran Turismo 7 is finally finding its groove.
What are the new cars in the new Gran Turismo 7 update?

The three new cars in the tweeted image are the Suzuki Cappuccino, the Subaru BRZ, and the Subaru BRZ GT300, as identified by the Gran Turismo 7 community at large (like here on Reddit). Yamauchi has a history of posting teasers with silhouetted cars (for instance, this tweet for GT Sport), but this is the first one he’s posted for Gran Turismo 7.
That said, it’s unclear exactly when this update adding these three cars will be. He says that it’s “next week” but he could be referencing the server maintenance that’s slated tomorrow on April 25.
This maintenance will take place over two hours starting at 1:00 PDT/4:00 EDT, and the notice warns that players will only have access to Arcade Race within World Circuits during the time. The developer also recommends that players complete any World Circuit championships before then as the Performance Points (PP) requirements for some events might change with the update.
But then again, Yamauchi would have simply said in the tweet that the update for these three new cars would be tomorrow instead of next week, so maybe he’s referring to an update possibly happening in early May.
Either way, Yamauchi is making good on the promise he made on his post on the official PlayStation blog on March 22. There, he detailed how his team was going to fix the game’s many issues at launch and said that “there will be a few additional patches deployed between now and the end of April which will add new cars…” With update 1.11 having mended the low credit payouts earlier this month, Gran Turismo 7 looks to be on a much better track than before.
