OWC’s Copy That for macOS promises quick, verified file transfers for photos and video

Other World Computing, better known as OWC, has announced its Copy That software is now available as a beta program for macOS computers.

The iOS and iPadOS versions of Copy That were presented as a quick and effective way to transfer media from your mobile device to external storage. OWC’s new macOS version of Copy That does the same thing, but offers even more features for ingesting content with checksum and file size verifications to ensure no data is corrupted or left behind throughout the transfer process. Specifically, OWC says it uses ‘XXHash-64, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-2 256 [and] SHA-2 512’ checksum options to ensure all data remains intact.

Data can be copied from multiple devices at once and presets can be made to repetitively transfer content from certain memory cards and cameras to specific locations on your computer or external drives, complete with custom batch renaming and other details.

When the transfer is complete, Copy that will produce a detailed report, complete with thumbnails of the media and all pertaining information, for users to download as a CSV, MHL, PDF or TXT file as a receipt of sorts to show no data was corrupted or forgotten in the transfer. Those reports are also stored in a Job Archive to reference later if needed.

You can test out the public beta for Copy That for macOS by signing up on OWC’s website.
