PlayStation Partners With Family Video Game Database, Which Helps Parents’ Understanding of Games

0

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that its PlayStation brand has partnered with Family Video Game Database, a popular database among parents that helps them develop an understanding of video games and navigate their children’s gaming experiences. The database is the work of Andy Robertson, author of the book Taming Gaming.

“The Family Video Game Database is a wonderful platform to help parents and guardians navigate the world of video games, and we are excited to come on board as its first corporate sponsor,” said Sean Whitcomb, Director of Trust and Safety at SIE. “At Sony Interactive Entertainment, we want everyone to have a joyful experience on our PlayStation platforms, so it is important that parents make informed decisions when playing video games – from using parental control settings on our consoles to choosing games that work best for them and their families.”

With Sony’s help, Robertson plans to expand the Family Video Game Database to make it easier to use for parents. Additionally, he plans to do more in the area of accessibility. One of his plans is to enable game developers to contribute to the database, and highlight accessibility features and settings in their games.

Family Video Game Database is still in its infancy, and already has an average of 15,000 visitors daily.
