Powerbase Edge Link, Edge Lite give your camera up to 12 additional hours of battery life

0

At NAB 2022, Core SWX announced two new members of its Powerbase Edge power solution family, the Powerbase Edge Link and the Powerbase Edge Lite. The new battery packs offer 70wh and 49wh, respectively, and are designed to power smaller-sized cameras for extended periods. The pack is attached directly to the bottom of your camera. The Edge Link model allows you to connect multiple packs using an integrated mounting system, offering double your battery capacity in the field.

With a 14.8v 70wh battery, the Powerbase Edge Link can power a camera and its accessories for more than 12 hours in the case of a Sony a7 series camera. The pack includes a pair of USB 5v outputs and two 14v D-Tap outputs, allowing you to power anything you need for video. Core SWX says that the Powerbase Edge Link can provide up to 8x a camera’s internal battery power. A built-in backlit display shows you the remaining battery life and estimated run time.

If you don’t want to keep the Powerbase Edge Link constantly connected to your camera, an updated dovetail style quick release plate lets you easily remove it, leaving just a small plate behind on your camera. You can also use this system to hot-swap batteries if you don’t want to stack them. The quick release plate attaches to most cameras via a 1/4-20 thread. A second 1/4-20 thread on the underside lets you mount the battery (and attached camera) to a tripod or other accessory.

The Powerbase Edge Lite is similar, albeit without the same power capabilities or v-mount connection. The Edge Lite is for users who already have existing Powerbase system products or only want a single base pack that will provide additional power in the field. The 47wh, 14.8v battery can provide 8 hours of runtime for a Sony a7 series camera.

Like the Edge Link, the Edge Lite includes a quick release plate system and 1/4-20 threads. LED lights indicate remaining power rather than a full display with runtime. The Edge Lite includes a pair of D-Tap and a couple of USB ports.

The Core SWX Powerbase Edge Link is available to preorder for $279. The Edge Lite will begin shipping in mid-May, and it costs $149. For additional information, visit Core SWX.
