Roller Champions Emerges From the Shadows for Long Enough to Announce Another Delay

0

The future of Roller Champions has been in doubt for quite a while, but we’ve finally received confirmation the game still exists. After nine months of silence, developer Ubisoft Montreal emerged from the shadows for long enough to announce Roller Champions would be delayed again and will no longer be releasing this financial year.

Why was Roller Champions delayed?

Roller Champions will be released late spring. The game was originally due to be released before the end of March 2022 but it had already become fairly clear through Ubisoft’s financial reports that it wasn’t going to happen. The developer took to the game’s Discord, as noticed by industry insider Tom Henderson, to reveal the new release window and the reason for the delay:

To the Roller Champions Community,

As mentioned in our last post, we’re back with another Community Update about the game.

After evaluating every possible scenario, the team has concluded that they will need a bit more time to deliver the successful game you deserve. We believe it’s the right decision to properly honor your excitement (and our own!) for the game and the competitive scene you’ve started around our Beta.

We are hard at work for the wait to be worth your confidence in Roller Champions as the game is getting closer to launch every day. We know that many of you have been following the development of the game for a while now and to showcase our appreciation of your continued support, we wanted to make sure you get this news first: Roller Champions will be releasing this late spring. The wait is almost over and it is thanks to your trust in our team that we have been able to make such progress [and] we want to thank you for all the love you’ve brought to the Roller Champions scene.

Your continuous support is our fuel during this final stage of production, we’re excited for what’s to come and can’t wait for you to join the arena.

In other news, Platinum Games has assured fans they will continue to support Babylon’s Fall and are even starting to create content for Season 3. Elsewhere, Gran Turismo 7 director Kazunori Yamauchi released a statement explaining why the team decided to cut payouts for most of the game’s events, much to the consternation of its players.
