Following the premature addition of some of the PlayStation Now games arriving on the service in October, Sony has confirmed they will be adding a total of seven new games this month. As well as The Last of Us Part II, Fallout 76, Desperados III, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, and Yet Another Zombie Defense HD, there will also be Amnesia: Collection. Finally, Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is being added to PlayStation Now outside of Europe.
The Last of Us Part II continues to win awards 16 months after its release, the latest being an award for excellence at the Tokyo Game Show. The game takes place five years after the events of The Last of Us and tells the story of Ellie’s quest for revenge amidst a world still suffering from the effects of the Cordyceps fungus. Those playing the game on PlayStation 5 can also make use of the PS5 Enhancement Update that adds a lot of benefits including faster loading times and enhanced framerate and resolution.
Fallout 76 took Bethesda’s Fallout franchise into the realm of the MMORPG. Serving as a prequel, the game is set in Appalachia where players have to build their own dwellings and survive the apocalyptic environment. The team is currently preparing for the Night of the Moth update that’s due to be released this winter. This will add a new seasonal event, improvements to public events, and easier looting of corpses.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered isn’t a surprise addition, as Sony had already promised to put the game on the service along with four other Final Fantasy titles by the start of January 2022. Squall is a member of the elite mercenary force SeeD. Together with other SeeD members and resistance fighter Rinoa, they take on the sorceress Edea to prevent her Republic of Galbadia armies from destroying other nations and taking over the world.
Desperados III is a real-time tactical strategy game set in the Wild West; despite the number at the end, the game serves as a prequel to the franchise so no prior knowledge is needed to enjoy it. Amnesia Collection is a horror game trilogy of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, its expansion Amnesia: Justine, and the sequel Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. Yet Another Zombie Defense HD is a top-down arcade zombie shooter for up to four players. Finally, Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is an isometric RPG where players hunt down demons.
All seven games will be available from tomorrow, October 5, and six of them seem to be permanent additions to the service. The exception is The Last of Us II, which will only be available on PlayStation Now until January 3, 2022.[Source: PlayStation Blog]
